Use Caution Riding at Pickett!!!

A Buddy and I took advantage of the GREAT weather this past weekend and took our families down to Pickett for an extended weekend of riding. While we were parked on Blackhouse Mountain Road, someone got into the back of my truck and took approx. $200.00 of tools, supplies and a pair of my sons shoes. If that wasn't bad enough,we stayed in Pickett State Park and someone also broke into my buddies cabin. Lucky for him, nothing was stolen. According to the Park Rangers, we were not alone as about 8 other trucks were hit too, all with out of state license plates. So just a warning to be careful and lock up anything you want to have when you return from riding.

Sorry for your bad luck, but thanks for the info. I believe that I am going to start parking down at the grocery and pay them 5 bucks, shouldn't have to worry about that when riding.

X2 on the store also! 5$ ain't bad at all for a good place to park where you don't have to worry about the truck while you are gone.

X3 on Hancock Grocery parking. My wife spoke with them on our last ride. Nice people and they said someone is always there.

I just hope no one else gets hit. Be careful guys!!

We were parked in a small grassy area between the parking lot and the Y area on Blackhouse Mtn. road.

I hate that, I guess i'm going to start parking on this side of Pickett......

I'd guess that it wasn't even anyone that rides ATV's. Just some scum bag that takes advantage of the ones that do.

Just about the other end....Its on the Hwy past the sand mines,or on the trees they have an "s" marked, on Dan's maps Sand mine trail is #3 take to the end and turn right about a mile or so or #48,or #9 to the end of them and you'll be at the store .....Its on Hwy 200 "Hancock Grocer" lat=36.6357365948, lon=-84.9856250062

thanks, dans maps? so is there a place to get a map of the trails for this area?
