| When I did my first and only oil change I used Vavoline 10w-40 API SM/SL. Is this good or bad and why ? Manual says API SG or higher, JASO standard MA. I know about the whole wet clutch/ anti friction additives thing. Did I use the right or wrong oil and should I change immediately or just wait until next oil change ? | |

| Maybe some one will chime in with some good info but personally I own a Yamaha and have never ran anything but Yamalube through it and everyone I have ever owned.. I know Yamalube is expensive but mine is under warranty and I don't want to give the dealer the excuse that I was using the wrong oil in case it ever breaks down.. | |

| thats the same oil I put in mine last monday from Advance Auto, probably got 20 so miles on mine since then with no issues....
I ran Honda's oil for years and years but quit running it one day and started with Maxim (or however you spell it) it was expensive so I quit it and just get the cheap stuff, I have NEVER had problems, more than likely they all come from the same place, but now I try to change oil every 300 to 500 miles... | |

| I use Shell Rotella in my Teryx and Yamaha Roadstar. Never had any clutch problems. I tried all the different oils Amsoil,Royal Purple,+++ and never noticed any difference, except in my wallet. | |

| Shell Rotella in my Teryx also. Used Royal Purple, no difference here either. Like stated above in the pocket book. | |
