Working on a Honda....... scratch lol

It happens...but it's usually just maintenance. My Sons 2001 Rancher ES hasn't given us any issues.I just put tires/wheels on it and the lift/snorkel/stereo will be coming soon.

I bought my Daughter a 2006 Rancher ES.(got it cheap)
The previous owner smacked something pretty good with the right front tire and bent all 4 a-arm mounts just a little bit.
Should be an easy fix.

After that it will also be getting tires/wheels/lift/snorkel/stereo.

Did a few things to the rhino today after business hours. Put on a new silicone hose kit all 4 hoses, put on brand new black itp ss108 14" wheels with wider offset rear wheels and brand new 26x9 front 26x11 rear grim reaper tires, new moose racing front rotors with new bolts, replaced 3 broken wheel studs, and pressure washed it in an attempt to get it somewhat cleaner to work on (a job in itself there!).

Worth every penny of it........the diffrence in power is almost too good to be true!!!! It just keeps accelerating the more you mash the gas,it just keeps pulling!!!!!!.....I had it touching 66 when I had to back off. I got a dyno sheet from Hunterworks and the stock 700 makes 22.3 HP and with the motor build, it's around 44.6 RWHP!!!!! The low end torque is like a buldozer now.....it WON'T BOG.....NONE....if you ever have been going up a hill and you could be on the floor and it barely moving, it rockets up hills like an RZR.......
It's #2 on top mods done to it.....with #1 being power steering

Why do you need a new belt? I put 2900 on the original belt and only replaced it because I had the clutch tore apart. The original one could have gone another 2900 easily.

Just preventative maintenance! I plan on changing it and re-greasing the clutch shortly... And I think you have a little more luck out of these things than I do... Didn't you say you got over 3000 miles on the stock wheel bearings? while I haven't hit 2000 yet and have went through three sets....lol

Yep, 2900.... Very Happy
I have about 850 miles on the new 2nd set and have no play in any of them.
I know a guy with a big-bore stroker 770 Rhino that has over 5K miles on the original belt..... What have you done to your bike this week! - Page 2 634495

I have an extra belt here for the future.
The first weekend I had my rhino...I got the belt wet when my belt exhaust tube came off(before we snorkeled the bike.
I thought the belt was shot so I bought another one.
After taking everything apart...the belt looked as good as new...so we're still running the same one.I just put the new one away.

If I ever tear the motor apart I most likely will do a cam and piston swap but hopefully it will be a while...lol

Well just got back in from putting 8 miles on it....... as far as bottom end WOW it was great on the hill climbs and rock crawling was only able to bogg it down a couple of times in high and that was in 4x4 with diff lock !!! Never hit low.... The only drawback was i've lost alot of top end ,on the trails cant tell as much ,I cant wait to get the sheeve in to see what happens..... On another note**Neil** who's idea was it to work on the carb... scratch My carb is leaking gas lol

That's good and bad I suppose. Would be kinda nice to just leave the rhino in high all the time, but I'm so use to going to low gear that it wouldn't be very beneficial to me. What did you end up doing to the carb? I have 2 carbs laying at the shop if you need any parts I'm sure they are the same or close to it.

Does cutting the carb spring help with the throttle response on the 450?
I know it helped on my Rincon.

If so...how much do you cut off?

It was fine ... I guess when I stood it up the vent tube or something let some gas out... I have put a total of 17 miles on it running around here today and I am loving it !

PostSubject: Re: What have you done to your bike this week!   What have you done to your bike this week! - Page 2 EmptyThu Nov 25, 2010 10:13 pm

Just finished my next round of installs.

First up was the new high flow fuel pump and clear lines. A weird install since it doesn't use the stock mounting at all it wants you to find a nut and bolt and bolt it in a vent tube hole on the pump bracket. I just used one of the stock bolts and welded nuts which seems to be fine. Only one bolt is used the other A) won't reach, and B) won't allow the pump to sit upright per instructions. Either way it works and is pretty cool being able to physically see the fuel being pumped into the carb and back to the tank. According to the kit it can be used on either the 660 or 450 so you 450 guys can do the same as well.

Next up was the new sheave and weights. I know everyone has seen the youtube video's on how to do this, but ill try to help a little. To remove all the cover bolts is 10mm, clutch cage is 4 10 mm bolts, and sheave nut is 22mm. The weights were a pain to remove out of the teflon covers by hand, but take an 11/16 3/8 drive socket and pull the cover down over the socket the weight will pop right out. You can push them back in by hand. My stock 660 weights clean with no grease or covers weighed 15.6 grams. The stock 450 weights I got off RIDERED weighed 11.5 clean. To clean all the grease off the cam plate and cover just spray brake parts cleaner all over it and the old gunk will fall right off. Reinstalling everything was easy, a little difficult getting the splines to show through the cam plate with my EPI severe duty belt. Wasn't too bad at all though, no worse than anything else I have done to my rhino.

Unfortunately it decided to start raining as I was finishing up my install so I barely got any kind of ride in to test it out other than a fast loop around the shop. I don't know how my top end is affected since I couldn't get past 30-32 mph before having to slow down. But the most noticeable difference is the bottom end. It doesn't take near the effort it did before to get the rhino rolling. So now its more like driving a car now when you give it gas it goes instead of lagging like stock. Will have more to report after saturday.
