Haunted Forest Ride - Oct 23 - Bell County KY HauntedForestForumImage

Wanted to invite the Mud and Guts Off-Road Club to come and spend the weekend before Halloween with the Holler Crawlers…We have a 9,000 acre, free-to-ride ATV park here in Bell County, KY called Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park. It has over 120 miles of trails and is some of the most scenic riding you will find anywhere, with great trails, great places to fish, and great places to camp...with no charge for any of it.

The 2nd Annual Haunted Forest Ride will begin on the Bridge to Nowhere on Highway 119 just east of Pineville, KY on Saturday, October 23rd. We encourage people to get there around 5:00 PM for some free food and information. At 6:00 PM we will hold the ATV and prize raffle drawing. The Haunted Trail will open at sundown. There is a rain delay date of Saturday, Oct 30th in the case of severe and heavy storms (which is unlikely during this time of the year, but just in case!). This year we plan on doing the ride much bigger and better than last year. We got quite a few compliments on the ride last year, and this year we have a larger budget and hopefully many more volunteers. We will have t-shirts available with a logo similar to the one above. If you own a business and would like to become a sponsor of the ride and get your business name on the back of the shirt, contact us through our email at hollercrawlers@hotmail.com

This year there will also be a few guided tours earlier in the day. Late October in Bell County is usually a great time for fall weather enthusiasts to get out and get some great pictures of the changing leaves, and riders will have some spectacular fall color views with the Cumberland Mountain right before them. The club will also have free maps to hand out earlier in the day to anyone who wants to ride some trails on their own before the Haunted Trail opens.

We also plan on again having a bonfire and some food afterwards. We will probably roast and cook hot dogs and have marsh mellows and hot chocolate for everyone as well…it will be a great time for the whole family.

The biggest news of the event will be that we will be drawing for an ATV and Prize Raffle during the ride! The Holler Crawlers are joining forces with the Pineville Rotary club to give away a new 2009 Honda 420 Rancher FI 4WD and a 6'16' dual axle trailer to go along with it! Second place will get a new 2009 70CC Honda dirt bike! Third place is a 3000 lb winch, and 4th place is a nice ATV hard storage box for your bike! Some pretty sweet prizes if I do say so myself. Tickets for the prize drawings are only $25. They are going really fast and are in limited supply, so get yours fast! There is no entry fee for the Haunted Forest Ride, just as all our other rides (minus benefit rides and even then there are no set amounts for donation), but to enter the prize giveaway, the tickets are $25. There is no entry fee to ride on the ATV Park either, so just look at this as spending a portion of what you'd normally pay to ride somewhere, but in this case you could walk away with a brand new ATV and 16' trailer or some other awesome prizes!

For tickets and info on the raffle, call Curt at 606-499-5715 or Jon at 606-499-0567. You can also email us at hollercrawlers@hotmail.com and visit www.hollercrawlers.com for more information on the ride and raffle as well. Again, I want to stress to get your tickets soon because we are selling them pretty quickly and there is a limited supply.

If you would like to see a video from last years ride, check out the link below!

To be honest…this year will be much scarier. Might be a good idea to bring a change of britches to this one…

Again for more info, check out www.hollercrawlers.com or email us at hollercrawlers@hotmail.com

Hope to see everyone from the Mud and Guts crew there!

Gary do you have the new dates for the ride, this is a 2010 post? Maybe start a new one if not already with the ride dates. I am planning on going for several days if life works out.

Event Staff
Holler Crawlers will be in neon yellow shirts or vests, and can help answer questions about the trails on the park or most of the event. County works will have a neon red vest on and can be obtained for security reasons, concert questions, and parking help.

Concert
The Colt Ford concert is $15 per ticket. Children 5 and under are free. You can still come to the concert even if you don’t have a four wheeler. The concert area will be sectioned off…people can bring lawn chairs to the front where it will be foot traffic only. There will be a large section in the back where people can watch the show from their machine. There will also be a place to park your ATV and walk into the front section if you’d like. The gates open at 6 PM for those who don’t have an ATV and want to come early to get a good spot. There is no alcohol in concert area. People can bring coolers in, however. There will be food vendors at concert area
We encourage everyone to buy tickets early if possible. While we are confident that we will have some for sale the weekend of the event, that is not guaranteed. So getting yours early to be safe and to help avoid the lines is recommended. You can go to www.hollercrawlers.com/events and purchase them via PayPal. Print your receipt that you get with your Transaction ID, and bring it to the event tent and you will get a wristband. This will also get you VIP access through the Haunted Trail. If you want to pick your tickets up early, you can bring your receipt with Transaction ID to the 3rd floor of the old Pineville Courthouse in Pineville, KY and you can redeem your wristband now.

Event Area
The event area will not be in the same place as it was last year, and instead will be close to the Sam Low Pond, directly on Trail 66 about 3 miles past the bridge. For safety reasons, the event area will be foot traffic only this year. There will be a parking area for ATVs and UTVs beside the event area where people can park and walk in. The event area will be the main place for everything. The Holler Crawler tent will be there with maps (please limit one per group), selling raffle tickets and merchandise, and giving out information. There will be about a dozen food vendors, selling everything from Pizza Hut Pizza, pulled pork, hamburgers, rib eye sandwiches, deserts, coffee, hot coco, bags of ice and much more! A lot of them are local school groups that are trying to raise money, so please help them out if you are able. There will be a few food and other vendors on Friday, and all will be on hand for Saturday.

There will also be lots of other vendors and information booths, including many local ATV dealers with product demos. There will even be one vendor doing tire changing in case someone needs it. The Bell County Rescue Squad will be set up there as well in case of any accidents. We will also have several radio stations broadcasting live.
There is also going to be a Kid’s Event Area open on Saturday around noon til around 5 PM (will be Saturday only). There will be 3 large inflatbles, candy, and some face painting and Halloween games. So for little ones who are too young for the Haunted Trail, we have some stuff they can do as well!

Parking / Concert Parking
Parking will be available for people hauling trailers, and we will also have concert parking for vehicles with no trailers, for the people that are there just for the concert. General parking will be available from bridge along the road leading up to concert area, and from that point there will be several sections marked off just for concert parking only (no trailers). There will also be general parking off the side of the main trail past the concert area as well. We will also have two fields for concert parking not far from the concert area. There will be a bus on hand to shuttle people to concert for small fee. People will be assisting with parking. We will also have handicap accessible parking for both cars and ATVs for the concert.

Camping
Primitive camping will be available to anyone who wishes to camp, free of charge. We will have designated areas marked for people to camp. People who tent camp can also go to other places on the park if they wish to get away from the crowds, including the Colmar side. All campers must have a large container (preferably a bucket) with water in and must fully extinguish campfires before leaving their campsite. Remember its usually dry this time of the year, please make sure all fires are soaked and out completely to avoid wildfires. There will be tent camping areas marked off near the Sam Low Pond area. Spots are first come, first serve.

RVs / Pull behind campers
We will also have designated areas for RVs and campers as well, free of charge. There will be areas near the Sam Low Pond marked specifically for RVs and campers and nothing else. Again, the park is primitive, so you need to make sure you are self contained. You are free to bring generators if you wish. We do not have a waste station so make sure you are empty upon arrival. There will be portojohns and showers on site as well for people to use. Spots are first come, first serve.

Hotels / Shopping / Restaurants
A lot of the hotels are already full. Pine Mountain State Resort Park is full, as is Holiday Inn Express in Middlesboro. If looking for a hotel, click the link below to see hotels in Middlesboro, KY.

http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&q=hot ... a=N&tab=wl

Middlesboro is only about a 20 minute drive to event area, and only a 10 minute drive from the Colmar parking area. So you could park in Colmar and drive your ATV across the park to the event area if you wish.
For groceries, there is a Save A Lot Food Store on Hwy 119 about 6 miles before the park. There is a super Wal-Mart in Middlesboro as well as a mall, movie theatres, etc.

Showers / Bathrooms
We will have lots of portojohns the entire weekend for people, as well as hand washing stations in the Event Area and the Concert Area as well. Also, there will be showers set up somewhere near the event area as well that the company who is setting them up will charge a small fee for people to use. The showers, bathrooms, and hand washing stations will be there Friday and Saturday for people to use.

Live Performance from country star Colt Ford This years event is going to epic! We’re bringing in the redneck with the most swagger, Mr. Colt Ford to rock the masses at the Haunted Forest Ride on Saturday, October 20th! Tickets to the concert will be $15. Considering the rest of the event is free and the riding is free, you can take the money you saved and catch an awesome concert! Tickets will come in the form of wristbands that will also get you VIP Line Access to the Haunted Trail so you can go through first and avoid a lot of the wait! Thats well worth the price of admission in itself! You can purchase the tickets online right now (see above) and redeem your reciept for a wristband at the event. Tickets will also be on sale at the event and in physical locations in Bell County about a month or so prior to the event.

Tickets are general admission. The gates will open about 6:00 PM and the concert itself will begin around 9:30. The section right in front of the stage will be reserved for foot traffic only. Please bring a lawn chair to sit in. Kids 5 and under get in free. The back section will be for concert goers who perfer to watch from their ATV or side x side. Coolers are permitted. No alcohol permitted in concert area.

Appearance by Brian Fisher of Fisher’s ATV World
World’s most famous Holler Crawler and host of the most popular ATV show on television, Brian Fisher, will be back at this year’s Haunted Forest Ride to film for his show on the Outdoor Channel and hang out with fans! Brian is a very down-to-earth dude who is appreciative of the fans he has here in southeast Kentucky. Come out to the event and say howdy to him…you never know, you could see yourself on national television!

Grand Opening of New Wooded Trails!
Thanks to a grant the Bell County Fiscal Court has recieved from Yamaha Motor Company, the Haunted Forest Ride will serve as the grand opening of some new, wooded trails on Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park. The construction of these trails was begun in early fall. Due to having a machine specifically for the project, we will not have all the trails in place. We will have a some new miles of wooded trails for everyone to enjoy and will be working on the new trails up through next spring. For updates on the newest trails, check www.wildernesstrailoffroadpark.net

The Haunted Trail – SATURDAY ONLY – Open to ATVs and Side x Sides only
The centerpiece of the entire event. This year’s Haunted Trail promises to be the biggest, scariest, most insane one yet!!! More actors and new scenes that will make the riders who dare to enter the blood-soaked grounds of the Haunted Forest need a new pair of britches…if they are lucky enough to survive! We have been given rave reviews of the trail every year, and this year we are going to continue to improve. Our club has been working hard on new scene ideas that will be our wildest yet! Don’t be fooled by the imitations…this is the ORIGINAL and the BEST!

If you have a wristband for the concert, the line up for the Haunted ATV Trail will begin at 5:30 PM. If you do not have a wristband and are not planning on going to the concert, the line up for the Haunted Trail will begin at 7 PM. The line for the Haunted Trail will be directed down trail 54 towards Sam Low, a right at 56A, and on to trail 60 which is the Haunted Forest Trail. Once you exit the Haunted Trail, concert goers will proceed forward to the concert. Non-concert goers will be exited through a trail on the right that goes through a grass field back towards the event area instead of getting on the gravel near the concert entrance (trail 61).

The World Record Attempts: Most ATVs in a Parade / Most UTVs (side x sides) in a Parade
On Saturday before the Haunted Trail at 1:30 PM, we are going to attempt to set two World Records: Most ATVs in a parade and Most UTVs in a parade. This is something we have been interested in doing for a long time, ever since the record set by the Harlan County Ridge Runners was broken by groups in Minnesota and now currently resides in Utah. We plan to bringing these records back where they belong: to the hills of Appalachia!

The parade will consist of a gathering of all ATVs and UTVs in two seperate fields on the park. Once gathered, each will complete a 2 mile long parade route on some of the green (easy) level trails on the park. We will have people filming in multiple locations and several people counting as well. The two parades will converge at the end of the parade route in a single field where aerial photographs and video will be taken as well. There will be registration tents in each field with a few short lines of information that each participant must fill out.

Things To Remember About Record Attempt Parade (Please copy and paste and print this)
• If you want your name to be included on the new sign that will commemorate the attempts if we are successful, please report to the Holler Crawler tent in the event area anytime on Friday or Saturday before the event. There will be forms at the record attempt area as well at the PA booth and being passed around. You can also sign up after the event is over. It is a short form with only 4 lines of info.
• Once you enter the respective area (either ATV or UTV section), please get in line. We will be lining up in rows and the first people in will go towards the back of each section to line up.
• Once you park before the record attempt, please turn off your machine as we will have announcements.
• Sheriffs siren will signal the start of the parade.
• Once the parade starts, please keep a short distance between you and the rider in front of you. If you follow more than two vehicle lengths behind, it could cause disqualification.
• During parade, keep in a single file line.
• Once we pass the cherry picker trucks and the end of the parade route, the parade will be over. People may disperse to event area, campsites, or trails.
• Riders are expected to know and understand Kentucky state ATV laws and understand they are riding at their own risk per KRS 411.190

We need your help…to bring everyone you know with an ATV or UTV (side x side) to this event. As a bonus, we have a special way of saying thanks if we are indeed successful in setting the world record: The name of every person and the name of every club who participates will be memorialized on a new sign at the entrance of the Hwy 119 trailhead of Wilderness Trail Off-Road Park.Clubs who bring 20 or more ATVs or UTVs will have a large logo at the top of the sign, clubs with 10-19 will have a medium size logo in the middle, and clubs with 5-9 participants will have a smaller logo at the bottom. Below these logos will be the names of all participants in the ride. Clubs who bring people will also earn their logo on a special edition tshirt we will have printed once we get confirmation that we have indeed broken each record. We will make sure that everyone gets their rightful place in history for helping bring the record back to Kentucky!

So again, invite everyone you know with an ATV or UTV to come and participate in helping break each of these world records!

Guided Rides – Friday and Sunday
There will be guided rides leaving from the ATV parking area beside the event area on both Friday and Sunday. The Friday rides will be at 10 AM, 12 Noon, and a night ride at 7 PM. The rides Sunday will be at 9 AM and 10 AM. The rides on early Friday can be upwards of 65 miles so bring extra gas if you need it. The guided rides Friday will be moderately challenging in places so only experienced riders need to participate. There will be a moderately hard one on Sunday at 9 AM and one easy, picture taking ride on Sunday at 10 AM. This should be the peak of fall color, so make sure to bring your camera!

Outlaw Class Rail Buggy Hill Climbs by Southern Buggies
Even folks without ATVs can come and experience a thrill just watching the guys from Southern Buggies dominate some hills so steep, they can’t even be walked up! Only Outlaw Class buggies are allowed in this showdown. The event will take place from 11 AM to 1 PM on a wooded hill near the event area. We will have signs directing people to the event.

Human Costume Contest
The LMU Paranormal Society will be hosting a costume contest at their tent in the event area on Friday night at 6 PM. They will also have some pumpkins for young kids to paint earlier in the day. Come show off your best costume!

Flat Drags
There will be Flat Drags conducted on the back side of Top of the World, where 41 and 41 intersect. They will be from 2-4 PM on Friday. Come duel you friends to see whose king of the mountain!

ATV/UTV Costume Contest
A returning favorite to the 2012 event line up will be the ATV costume contest. It’s just like a regular Halloween costume contest, only Holler Crawler style! Not only do we want you to dress up to enter (in fact, that part isn’t even required)…we want you to dress your ATV or side x side up! Last year we had some TERRIFIC entrys. A panel of judges will select the winner who will win a brand new Warn winch! And entering is free! So make sure to dress your ride up in the wildest way possible and you may win this year! Be as original and creative as you can be and you will also almost surely see yourself on the episode of Fisher’s ATV World!

Cemetary Tour
We are trying to expand the weekends activities to more than just ATV related events. The cemetary tour is something that even those who don’t have an ATV can experience! Our friends at the Lincoln Memorial University Paranormal Society will be conducting a scientific study on a 100+ year old cemetery on the property.

Kid’s Event Area
The kid’s event area was a big hit last year. It will take place again this year at the event area on Saturday from 10 AM til that evening. Children who may may too young or easily scared had a blast during the day playing on the multiple inflatables. We also had several Halloween oriented games as well. We plan on having an even better kids event area this year so the kids can have even more fun!

Mud Drags
The mud drag contests will run in 8 classes on Friday between 4-7 PM at the new mud pits near trail 50 and 50A. Trophies will be awarded to the winner of each class. Each participant must wear a helmet and sign a waiver as well. Come see if you have what it takes to conquer the new mud drags weve made! For complete details, click HERE.
On Saturday at 10 AM, we will have a mud drag duel where you can challenge your friends, with no set classes.
