11-30-13 ATV only ride
This ride was going to be a tight and twisty rock and roll ride. I had intended to ride the tightest trails I know. We changed course due to deer hunters. The “Good Book” says to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Speaking of such: We ran into a father and son hunting squirrels with a dog. We politely pass them and roll on down the trail. Their dog runs in front of us for a while. We think he is scared of the ATV’s. We then get in front and the pup runs after us. Finally we stop and turn back towards the hunters. Come to find out they had just got the dog. He might have been lost forever if we had not returned him to his owners.
The trails we did take were great. The area we rode was an area I have been riding for over 14 years. This area has it all! We spent time at the 2nd best overlook that I know. We had lunch by a nice lake. We rode some VERY rocky stuff. We passed over one creek 13 times. We rode by one cabin that had been burned down! Just let me catch the people (animals, SOB, waste of air, low life’s, good for nothing, stupid) doing such! This kind of activity is not acceptable. Did you get the idea I have no respect for vandals?
Sadly we had 8 riders confirm for this ride and ended up with a total of 2. Yep, this ride was me (guide) and one other person. Wow, be sure to keep this in mind. If this keeps up guided rides will be history. I normally have 5-6 riders on everyday rides.
On the up side, we had a ball! I even tipped the Grizzly over one time. We had ruts and one huge rock to pass over. I chose the large rock. Mistake!!! I got hung up and backed off into the rut. I then change direction and bam! I roll the ATV over in slow motion. Thankfully a sore knee is all I got for my efforts.
Lastly, the parking area (Marty’s ATV) deserves a shout out. It is nice to be able to park and rest assured that your truck and trailer will be fine. I even recall one time Bob leaving a GPS device on his truck and it being there when we returned. This time was no exception. Plus, there is a good feeling when you can tell someone the where and when of a ride. This type of info could save your life.
We had some snow too!
