PostSubject: Anyone running a clutch kit? RZR 800   Anyone running a clutch kit? RZR 800 EmptyMon Feb 25, 2013 10:51 pm

On my bike the stock tires measured 26 1/2-26 3/4 and my Mongrels only measure 26" but this thing seems like the belt slips to much so I am thinking a clutch kit for 27-27 inch tires may help.. Whats your thoughts?

Thats my issue, I am not use to having to run low range.. The bike has plenty of power to run high but the clutch system just can't seem to handle it..

It is the difference between the ultramatic trans you are used to. In the Rhino the belt never has slack in it, but the Polaris does .

if its slipping it should be sqauling or smoking and will slip under full throttle i just got a rzr and its hard to get used to it after riding a yamaha the rzr will feel like it slips until the clutch fully engages and no ebs does suck

I ordered a clutch kit and the two specialty tools, I hate shifting from high to low so often.. I ordered the 27-28 inch tire kit and I am going to see how it does with the 26" tires.. I hope this will cure the issue so i don't have to shift to low at every little obstacle and will hopefully make the belt last longer..

I did install the 27-28" kit but with my tires running smaller than stock the bike revs to fast, it feels awesome off the line but it almost immediately hits the rev limiter which is not cool.. lol I tried going with 66 weights and it still does it but not as bad, I talked to a rep from epi and from my understanding I plan on getting the silver spring which should help plus it will lower the engagement RPM's.. With the 27-28" kit the clutch engages at 24-2500, stock is 15-1600 so the extra rev is to much in my opinion especially for the tires I am running, I would like to see it engage at around 2000.. I may leave it alone till the next set of tires and go with 27 or 28 inch tires so the clutch kit works like it should..

Alright got out this morning and did a little more work on this.. First went to Norris's Super Cycle and picked up new clutch weight pivot bolts and nuts along with a new two way bearing because I assumed at 900 miles it wouldn't hurt to replace them.. When I got home I pulled everything a part and cleaned it up to find the two way bearing was still in good shape so I didn't mess with changing it but I did install the new pivot bolts and nuts with the new weights...

On my clutch with everything clean I installed the 66 weights, green secondary spring, and silver Primary spring (the kit came with a white primary spring so I had to order the silver separately). I also have a set of 64 weights that I plan on trying but haven't done so yet..

I haven't gotten to ride it much yet but this setup seems to be working pretty good, I am really liking the harder launch. The engagement with this setup is a little higher than stock at around 19-2000 and it takes it a little longer to fully engage which is what I was hoping for and I am liking it so far. The engagement of the white spring was around 24-2500 which is way to high for what I do and the way I ride in my opinion, riding all mud with big 30" tires I could see it being beneficial but not for what I do with 27" tires. With this setup the initial launch from a stand still hits harder but from a rolling punch above 30 I can't tell a big difference, I think with the 64 weights it will pull a little hard on both but not sure yet as I have not tried it yet. Next time I pull it apart to clean and service I will probably try the 64's but until then I think I will be happy with the 66's..
