| Clutch work (modified sheave with lighter weights and maybe a blue spring) is by far the best and should be the first in my opinion.... | |

| I have a 450 and I was told to put 12g weights and a blue spring by a friend that's been modifying Rhino's for years.
I've also got the shim mod done to the clutch(don't have the part #'s for the shims...sorry.I'll try and track them down).
Other than that,I've added a DG pipe,Uni Air Filter,NGK Iridium Spark Plug, and a jet kit.
I'm trying to get the rpm's up out of the hole.I'm not really concerned about top speed. Reason is...I'm spinning 30" Silverbacks with my little 450.

| This week im getting/ordering a machined sheeve ,spring and lighter roller weights ,just trying to get more input.... M&G's has the blue with 12g weights and has no problem at all turning all 4's in high .... was wanting to know if anyone runs a red spring in a 450 ?
But I really dont care about top speed either just wanting more bottom end to turn all 4 in the steep rocky hill climbs and thick mud ...

| I don't know where you found that but I wish I could have found it 2 years ago when I was working on my clutch! Thats some great info! From looking at those numbers I think you will be fine with a red spring.. It makes me wonder more about what the stock tension is! Anyone know? - RIDERED wrote:

| If you want more POWER...then IMO..the only way is with a new camshaft, and you need to up the compression with the piston.....I know I love the way she pulls in the 700!! Here is some parts I found that you would need. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2004-2008-Yamaha-YXR450-RHINO-WISECO-STD-PISTON-YXR-450-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem563cf39934QQitemZ370389784884QQptZMotorsQ5fATVQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Well they are different ways to look at it..... I'm wanting to use what power the stocker has got ,i'm just wanting to put it to the ground,or use it more successfully.... I should have worded this post a little different because if I was wanting just the power (engine hp) I would have bought something besides a little old 450 Also I still have over 4 years of Warrenty left,so I'll let Yamaha rebuilt it if need be

| The whole weights, springs etc is opposite for the 450 compared to the 700.....So I am not of much help here. Your best bet would be to talk to Neil about the 450....his is set up right for trail riding. Who says the little fo fiddy won't go!!! | |

| Well this week Me and Neil put in a blue spring and some 12g weights I tried it out and was happy with the low end performance,but... the top end was gone for sure was falling out of power at around 30mph and would finally hit the rev limiter at 36mph (would pull good to 37 stock).... Today I installed my new machined sheeve and let me tell you it woke the little thing back up !! Just put a couple of miles on it and it topped out at 41mph with even more bottom end power than it had ..very happy so far with the mods | |

Are you spinning them in high range with your mods ?

| dcfox, unless you want to start doing motor mods (Cam,Piston) , the only thing I would know to do is add the Bronco clutch. And try getting the EPI White spring, which is the stiffest they sell. | |

| To be honest...I'm trying to work a trade to either step down to 28" Silverbacks or 28" Outlaw radials.
I'd rather stay out of the motor if at all possible.
