Windrock to The Widow Maker and back... Empty
PostSubject: Windrock to The Widow Maker and back...   Windrock to The Widow Maker and back... EmptyTue Jun 09, 2015 7:37 am

Wow, what a day!!! We had 5 machines today for our grand adventure, 4 RZR 1000’s and a Scrambler 1000. The plan was to leave Windrock and eventually hit the Widow Maker over off of I75 later in the day, with some other exciting trails in between. We pulled out right at 9 AM for what was to be an AWESOME ADVENTURE!!! Some of the trails we hit before lunch were, 2,16,18,28,30,75,74,51,52,54A, and 54. T75, Walden’s Ridge, was interesting as always. we had one close call on the hog back ridge when Buck thought about doing a skid check of his RZR, but at the last absolute second grabbed reverse and averted the check. I think his passenger jerked a permanent crease in the seat with his butt cheeks...LOL. After Walden’s Ridge we worked our way over to the Devils Elbow, I thought I could go between the rock wall and the large boulders sticking out from the other wall. Well, that was a bad idea, after nearly standing Eleanor on her tail I backed back down and drove over the rocks sticking out of the wall. Doc said he thought I was coming over backwards...the rest of the group made it up with out incident. after a brief rest to replace a few body rivets on my machine we were off to the Widow Maker. The Widow Maker was pretty uneventful until the very last climb, Doc and his Scrambler had a brief discussion about who was driving who...after a short conversation Doc went back down and shot up that thing like it was a 4 lane highway. This provided us with our 1st flat of the day, just before we were about to load up and head out Austin heard air escaping from Doc’s machine. Upon further inspection that 4 lane highway wasn’t as smooth as it looked. He had a small pinch at the wheel, after 3 well placed plugs it was holding air again and we were off down the back of the Dragon. From there it was over to Turley, we ran up Turley then down Puncheon Creek then up Cumberland trail. At the exit of Cumberland trail we drew blood...as Doc was topping the rise a vine grabbed him across the face and nearly decapitated him. Good thing he was wearing safety glasses as they probably saved his eyes, but the impact on them did force them into his cheek and nose hard enough to draw blood. After a personal diagnosis it was determined that he would live to ride another day. From there we worked our way back to Windrock Park via the Ruins and T57 and T60, where Dan had our second flat of the day. Him and Doc had it repaired and him back underway in short order. We made it back to the trucks right at 10 PM with 117 miles behind us. This was a grand adventure with a great group of riders.

Hey Jody, did you go by way of the Flatts after you left 54? If you did did you cross the Lindsey property. The last time I was up there they had the gate closed out at the blacktop road. I didn't see much of a way around it.
