My S was down due to electrical issues so I went to Norris's to find he had two of the new 900 S's (the red one was done sold) so I picked up the black Pearl! After a quick walk around I got to say from the looks of it Polaris did GOOD! All the weak links seem to be addressed and improved upon.
The chasis looks to be a thick walled tubing that travels around the front of the bike to make a sturdy bumper mount and protect the radiator at the same time, another biggy is the a-arms now have a dual bolt setup instead of the single which should make life easier on the bushing, its got a full size car type battery, a much better glove compartment latch, Slider on the driver side seat, seat backs adjustable up or down a couple inches from the looks of it, Polaris claims an inch more leg room but honestly it feels like much more, fox 2.0 shocks, the rear sway bar is going to be real easy to remove seeing it right on the back, actual tie-rod ends, easy access engine compartment, air box is now in the center above the motor and no longer above the wheel, and best of all the 27" Dirt Commanders from the factory! They must have built this machine for ME.. lol I think the Polaris site says a new awd setup but the front diff looks the same as my 800 s so I don't know what the different is or where it is. So far I love it but we will see! And I am sure I am forgetting something..

we did a little riding today, I will post some pictures later. all I can say is this thing is day and night difference, the ride is worlds better and the power is very noticable, it is more comfortable, and this is my first machine with EPS and i done think I could go back to without it! 0-50 is snappy now, I have a little video I will try to post tonight (but no promises), the fluids are real easy to check, no longer have to remove the seats, there is an access panel that can be removed with the seats in. I think this machine is worlds better than the 800 as long as mechanically it holds up, we will see.

the gearing and clutching also feels far better, I can run high now where I would run low in the 800.

I just talked to a friend that test drove one. He said the ride was a little better power much better, but the leg room was worse than the 800

Brother I got a lot more leg room in the 900! Polaris claims an extra inch but it feels like more to me!

Trade went pretty good, I think I got out before the 800 took the huge drop in price.. lol Especially since my 800 had electrical issues. When word of this thing really gets out I look for it to take over out here.

I got out today looking to answer a couple questions and found a few more interesting facts on this new machine.
First the harness bar is 1 3/4" like the rest of the cage 2. As for top speed I hit 72 today at 6800rpm (on level ground) 0-50 is quick with a slowing down from 50-60 and slowing more from 60-70 but 70-72 took a little time.. I would say 70 is tops but I never felt a limiter. 3. total width outside tire to outside tire I got 61.5" front and rear (including tire bulge). 4. the outer rear bushings now have grease fitting! 5. ground clearance measured 11 3/4" rear and 12 3/4 front (all stock)
Am I missing something?

Mud-and-Guts or anybody else
Do you like the suspension on the 2015 900 better than the trailing arm setup on the older models? If so, why.
Just curious

Pete,
The rear suspension on the XP's is the reason I never bought one brother! The rear suspension is the weak link, main thing is the trailing arms will hang up on rocks and there is no way to add skid protection to protect the axles. And if you don't really watch where and how you ride the rear bars bend easily. You can get stronger high clearance bars but when you do you put the axle at an even greater risk of hitting something and bending it or possably damaging something worse (rear diff or outer hub). I was wanting a 900 when I bought my S but could pay the extra money for the XP rear suspension so when I seen the 900 S was announced I knew I had to have it!
But thats just my take, a lot fo people love the XP's but I don't know how they feel about the rear suspension. Maybe an owner of one will chime in.
Neil

Polaris had to know I would remove the sway bar, they made it real easy by putting it right on the back. Also removed the warning stickers off the dash and it was real easy, they just pulled right off.
