rear brakes on 550 Griz Empty
PostSubject: rear brakes on 550 Griz   rear brakes on 550 Griz EmptySat Mar 30, 2013 7:05 am

2009 Yamaha Griz 550 with EPS
Over time my rear brakes have become “spongy”. I have brakes sometimes and sometimes they pull all the way in. I can pump them and they return in 2-3 pumps.

Items done so far:
New pads all around
Inspected calipers (no leaks)
Checked upper reservoir (full of fluid)
Bled system 2 times

Any clues? Sad

I would bleed the system again, sounds like an air pocket in the line.. I changed all the fluid in the TRX while I had it a part and I bleed the system several times but they are still doing the same thing.. Sometimes it is really hard to get the air out.. how are you bleeding them?

If you haven't let any air in, check your wheel bearings for play, they can push the pads in or let the caliper go to far out depending on the angle of the wheel. Ask me how I know....

If you have a-arm skids they can sometimes get into the caliper. I had my master brake rebuilt by dealer...not very expensive. Pressure washer Water, then a freeze took my seal out.
